Microsoft has released a new preview build of Windows 10 1903 (currently codenamed 19H1) for users in the Fast ring of the Windows Insider program.

Windows 10 build 18312 introduces the reserved storage option that we already described in full here, as well as an increase of the Fiber Local Storage limit.

Microsoft explains that in the current Windows 10 builds, musicians come across limitations that prevent them from loading plugins into their Digital Audio Workstations.

“This build greatly raises that per-process FLS slot allocation ceiling, allowing loading potentially thousands of unique plugins. Beyond musicians, this change will positively impact any application that dynamically loads hundreds or thousands of unique DLLs that have statically-linked Visual C++ runtimes, or otherwise allocate FLS slots,” the company explains.

Additionally, this build also introduces a new reset Windows experience with a fresh UI and options that make the whole thing a more straightforward process.

Known issues and other improvements

There are also improvements for the Windows Subsystem for Linux, so beginning with this update, there are new command line options, including importing and exporting distros.

Just like all the other builds, 18312 comes with several other general improvements and known issues, and you can check out the changelog in full in the box after the jump.

One particular bug that you must have in mind concerns games with anti-cheating systems, as Microsoft says that playing them wouldn’t work and sometimes you could also get a fatal error in the form of a Green Screen of Death.

Windows Sandbox also doesn’t seem to work on computers with specifics GPUs, and Microsoft says that it also discovered a bug causing a bugcheck when launching some Centennial apps.

There’s still no 19H1 build for users in the Slow ring, and Microsoft hasn’t yet announced when such a release could take place.
